Summer 2013 Mission Trip
Buckner, KY June 30—July 6
***The most incredible week of your year is about to happen…
One of the most powerful experiences in the Christian life is knowing that God did something amazing through you.
That’s exactly what you will encounter when you go to a Group Workcamp with Firm Faith youth group.
Workcamps are week-long Christian mission camps where you and your friends will serve people in need through challenging home repair projects. For six days, you’ll join other youth groups to repair sagging porches, rebuild unsafe steps and wheelchair ramps, and paint homes. You’ll transform a house and God will transform your faith.
These summer mission trips are high-energy and action-packed, yet powerful and life-changing. Workcamps are big: our camp will have around 400 teens participate which creates big energy and excitement throughout the entire week.
As you obey Jesus’ command to “love your neighbor” through selfless service, you’ll bring hope to people who desperately need it. It’s a powerful experience…and a launching point for a faith that’s deepened, renewed, or even begun for the very first time.
***Questions and Answers
When and where is the mission trip?
The trip is from June 30-July 6, 2013. Our destination is Buckner, KY, where we’ll meet up with dozens of other churches to do home repair.
Who can go?
Anyone who’s in sixth grade on up!
How much does it cost?
The total fee is $349. This covers transportation, room, board, a t-shirt, and materials for the work sites. We will have fundraisers and scholarships to help defray the cost. Don’t let the cost keep you from coming on the trip!
Where do we stay?
We camp out at a local high school, where we’ll eat, sleep, hang out, and worship together. You’ll sleep on a classroom floor, so bring an air mattress or cot!
Who will I work with?
For the five days during the week, you’ll be part of a dedicated six-person work crew. This crew is made up of people from different churches — and we promise that they’ll become your best friends by the end of the week!
What do we do?
Your crew will be assigned to a house to perform one or more projects. These can range from painting to building a porch to landscaping to a dozen other home repair tasks. Don’t worry if you have no idea how to do these — teaching and learning is part of the experience!
Will we do anything other than work?
Absolutely! The camp has two daily sessions full of singing, dancing, skits, and challenges. There’s plenty of time to hang out with friends and have fun, too. And on Wednesday, our youth group will take a half-day to go do a fun activity together!
